POS Device Transactions Not Processing

There are several reasons why the POS device may not process transactions. Use the following steps to troubleshoot failures.

  1. Test the Card Reader

    1. The cause of the problem may be the card reader:

      1. Perform transactions with several cards to ensure the problem is not a defective card.

      2. Make sure the card is being swiped properly. With the VeriFone® Vx510/570 card reader, the black magnetic stripe on the card should face down and in, toward the keypad.

      3. Process a transaction manually using the keypad instead of using the card reader.

      4. If the manual transaction works, submit a support ticket to have the POS device replaced.

  2. Check Connection
    1. If the manually-keyed transaction doesn't work, check the internet or telephone connection to ensure the terminal is connecting properly.
  3. Submit a Ticket
    1. If the problem persists, use the option below to submit a support ticket.
